Little Planet creates a broad range of custom
computer-based and Web-based courses.
At the high end of the budget spectrum are courses that are aimed at solving strategic business goals, changing corporate culture, or assimilating new hires into the brand/culture of a company.
An example of high-end work is a course we created for one of
the worldâs largest food-service organizations. That course is designed
to cut one-half of 1 percent from the companyâs food-cost variance,
which in turn will create tens of millions of dollars in profits.
When
we teach entry-level workers to provide great customer service, we often
use higher-end budget approaches. This is because we need to provide great entertainment
value to engage people who are not ordinarily going to be aggressive scholars.
Complex simulations of specialty software and scenario-driven
group problem-solving exercises also tend to have higher budgets.
At the middle of
the spectrum are courses that, for example, teach middle managers
how to use company technology, follow company guidelines for performance management,
and perform similar tasks. Because we are dealing with motivated learners who
already know how to learn, we use simpler, less entertaining templates to deliver
the training following instructionally sound principles.
At the simple end of the spectrum are courses that ensure regulatory
compliance. For example, we create mandatory refresher training
for
emergency medical technicians who have to document continuing education
hours to maintain their licensure. People come to the courses motivated
to refresh their memory efficiently and cost effectively. Of course,
these straightforward courses follow solid instructional design principles. |

"They are very experienced in
translating materials used in a live, instructor-led presentation into
an engaging Web-based training format. With their rapid deployment tools
and capabilities, we were able to develop the courses quickly and cost-effectively."
