Unlike most companies in the E-learning industry, Little Planet does not rely on a cookbook of pre-defined
approaches. Instead, we create customized programs that:
- Speak directly and powerfully to specific learning audiences.
- Work within the project's technology and budget constraints.
- Employ learning strategies sculpted for the project challenge.
Little Planet
has helped many organizations parse their learning requirements into
the appropriate delivery mechanisms. While there are no hard and fast
rules, we advocate a careful blend of the following:
Instructor-Led
Group Sessions — These sessions
are best for teaching soft skills — how people
should treat and deal with each other; how to
embrace and live out an organization's mission
and culture; how to solve complex problems,
etc. Little Planet uses technology to create
challenge-based group learning experiences that
can be delivered by any team leader.
E-Learning
Training — This approach is best
for introducing new concepts, and teaching people
how to do procedural desk work. It is superior
to classroom training for teaching most computer
tasks. It also shines as a supplement to the
other approaches. CBT and WBT are excellent
on-the-job refreshers for complex tasks.
Knowledge
Management — Often people need
to look on their computer to learn quickly how
to fill out a form, answer a specific question,
or review a particular policy or procedure. Little Planet creates
online systems that store this sort of knowledge, so that it is
never more than three clicks away. We also use it as a launching
point for computer-based training modules that drive learning deeper,
if the learner wants that. A knowledge archive is a critical just-in-time
resource for people who must make complex rules-based
decisions.
Learning
Management System (LMS) — The LMS
is the technology backbone that launches courses
and assessments; tracks learner progress; gives
learners a clear understanding of how learning
supports their career path; manages OJT and other coaching opportunities;
and provides reporting for management.
On
the Job Training — There is
no substitute for real-world experience
in a job. Technology can help manage
the OJT process, making it purposeful
and appropriate for learners, depending
on where they are in their learning process.
It can also help manage mentors and teach
them how to conduct meaningful OJT.
